His role focuses on giving Aber students the best student journey possible and giving them more than just a degree.

About the Role:

 

The Student Opportunities Officer is responsible for:

  • Representing the student body on matters relating to sports, societies, volunteering and employability.
  • Co-ordinating activity and campaigns relating to sports, societies, volunteering and employability.
  • Informing policy within the University and Students’ Union on matters relating to sports, societies, volunteering and employability.
  • Supporting and developing a network of clubs and societies by chairing the Sports and Societies Zones.
  • Working with the Chief Executive Officer and Undeb Aber’s senior management team to achieve and shape strategic aims and outcomes.
  • Attending appropriate University Committees.
  • Attending regular meetings with relevant University departments to further the development of clubs, societies, volunteering and employability.

Current Priorities:

Below you can find a list of priorities Francesco is working on this year as well as her current progress on them.

 

Aberystwyth students will feel heard and represented. We will regularly speak with students to understand the challenges they face, ensuring we have the information needed to bring to the University and to guide the Union’s work.

 

Ensuring belonging is embedded across the University and Students’ Union

  • Develop LGBTQIA+ friendly flats in university accommodation and collaborate with the accommodation team to improve the application process.
  • Increase engagement in student groups by supporting RAG, Give It a Go, and actively promoting societies and clubs to members.
  • Ensure every student feels connected and able to find their Aber community.
