Raising and Giving (RAG) is a central fund raised largely by sports clubs, societies and voluntering groups but which anyone can get involved with.
The fund operates with the purpose of Aber students helping other Aber students stay healthy and happy.
For the first time this year we are dedicating the fund to student wellbeing. The monies you raise and donate will support us in delivering a whole range of activities and projects to support student wellbeing from care packages to professional support services. Our full-time officers are keen to develop new ways to improve student wellbeing across campus.
Sports Clubs and Societies passionate about specific causes can fundraise for their chosen charity and we will still support these events but we are encouraging all groups to join us in helping Aber students.
In addition to the focus on student wellbeing we are also introducing two fundraising events each semester/term.
Term 1 – Old College Fundraiser
The Old College refurbishment project will be a legacy providing a unique space to work and socialise for both students and the wider community. The funds that we raise will initially go towards refurbishment, and in future years towards the maintenance of this historic building.
This year’s event includes:
- Gaming tournaments.
- Sponsor a bee.
- Aber Records – an opportunity for students to be part of annual leaderboards on the Students’ Union Website.
Term 2 – Community Fundraiser
The Aberystwyth community play a huge part in welcoming and supporting Aber students during their time here. The funds that we raise will go to support charities and projects in the local community In previous years monies raised by students have helped fund a defibrillator for the RNLI and Welsh learning resources for a local nursery.
