*** AberSU Covid-19 RAG Fundraiser ***
We’ve launched a specific RAG Fundraiser to support local causes during the Covid-19 pandemic.
We have set an initial fundraising target of £1,000 through a crowdfunding page to support three local causes’ suggested by students including NHS staff at Bronglais Hospital, Aberystwyth Food Bank (Jubilee Storehouse) and New Pathways.

AberSU RAG (Raise and Give) is a single fund which is raised largely by sports clubs, societies and volunteering groups but in which anyone can get involved. The fund allows Aberystwyth students to come together to help fundraise for local and national causes.
Students raised in total over £5,000 in 2018-19 which was split between Mind, Guide Dogs Cymru and our Community Fund. UMCA also has a RAG fund which raised over £2,500 for St John’s Cymru and the Wales Air Ambulance during 2018-19.
How does RAG work?
AberSU RAG is a single fund which is split equally between two pots annually:
- The first is awarded to a Charity of the Year which is proposed and voted on by students at our Fresher’s Fair in September each year.
- The second is a Community Fund which is distributed to local charities in Mid-Wales by the form of grants.
In addition to this Sports Clubs and Societies passionate about specific causes can fundraise for their chosen charity, although we encourage all students to support the above RAG Fund.
