This week is “AberSU Celebrates week” - THE perfect opportunity to celebrate all things related to Aber students and we will be celebrating one promise at a time.

We want our students to feel proud of their achievements, have a vibrant set of skills and experiences to feel confident to take the next steps on their journey, wherever they may take them.

Today we take a look back at some of the ways we have “helped to grow your skills and experiences” this last academic year:

  • 260 Academic Representatives elected and 72% of these have attended training.
  • To date, 660 students have registered as Student Volunteers on our Volunteer platform which hosts a range of volunteering opportunities in the community & these students are working towards the Aber Award. 220 students have logged a total of over 15,000 volunteering hours.
  • Term 1 and Term 2 Volunteering & Wellbeing Fairs saw over 30 stall holders share their volunteering and well-being opportunities with Aber students.
  • We delivered our targets for students as part of the £25,000 WVCA Grant funding. The funding has helped us to further grow and establish our areas of volunteering, providing 10 funding opportunities to student groups.
  • Student Volunteer Week in November showcased Volunteering at Undeb Aber, spotlighted 3 student volunteers and hosted a range of volunteering opportunities and activities: such as a tea party at the local care home, litter pic and an academic representatives networking event.
  • During the year we have hosted a number of action days; from tree planting 420 native broadlead saplings on campus to creating and delivering 80 holiday cards to a local care home in term 1.

Followed by Canine calming during exam destress, Tea party at a Care Home, multiple litter picks locally and a day helping out at Dyfi Donkeys during term 2.

  • This year we have provided a range of work placements for 8 Aber students and recent graduates via the University’s Professional Pathways scheme.
