Action Days

Action Days

Action days are one-off volunteering opportunities perfect for those who want to give something
back, gain new skills and meet new people without an on-going commitment. Whether it’s a beach clean, event fundraiser or a party for the elderly; providing you can give up a couple of hours of your time, we’ll support you to volunteer in the local community!

Actions days are delivered by the Students’ Union or local organisations that may need volunteers for one-off events. There is a range of one-off volunteering opportunities throughout the year and you can take part in as many as you would like!

Please note that action days are filled on a first come first serve basis. If you'd like to take part in any of these opportunities or find out more, email Amy - alg51@aber.ac.uk

Natures Calendar - Be Part of Citizen Science

Thursday 21st October, 2pm - Online
Nature’s Calendar is a citizen science project run by the Woodland Trust, asking the public to submit records on the timing of key natural events (phenology). As the UK’s largest phenology database, with nearly 3 million records of seasonal change dating back to 1736, the project is invaluable for research into the impacts of weather and climate change on our wildlife.

Join us to learn more about the project background, season change (phenology), some of key Nature’s Calendar scientific outputs and how you can get involved. We’ll explain how our annual Spring Index calculations reveal the extent of spring ‘advancement’ and the implications on a woodland food chain due to the mismatch in timing of natural events.
