This year, the Students’ Union has collaborated with both local and national organisations to provide students with a range of online training and volunteering information.

You can take part in as many of the activities as you’d like throughout the week!


Monday 8th February, 3 - 4pm: Volunteering at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games

After more than a year of disruption to sporting and cultural events around the World, the 2022 Commonwealth Games hope to be the light at the end of the tunnel where we can unite a nation to celebrate sport, culture and humankind.
Laura Easton, Workforce + Volunteer Special Projects Lead, will give an overview of the Games activity with specific focus on the Volunteer programme and the opportunities for you to get involved in what is sure to be one of the best Games yet.


Tuesday 9th February, 1 - 2pm: Let’s talk rubbish! - What happens after you put the bins out and what can you do?

We can’t do a beach clean this year, but you can find out more about how to stop rubbish reaching our beaches in the first place! If you want to learn more about the importance of recycling and how you can make sure you’re taking the right steps to help make our environment cleaner and greener, come along to this interactive talk.


Tuesday 9th February, 6 - 7pm: Documentary screening of the Voluntourist, followed by discussion - Is Voluntourism Ethical?


Wednesday 10th February, 10 - 11:30am: Climate Change Forum

Join the Living Seas Team from Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre for a Climate Change Forum. Hear about the new Climate Change Cymru project and tell us how you think we should protect our seas and tackle climate in Coastal Ceredigion.


Wednesday 10th February, 1 - 3pm: Dolphin Watch Survey Training

Join the Living Seas Team from Cardigan Bay Marine Wildlife Centre for a Climate Change Forum. Hear about the new Climate Change Cymru project and tell us how you think we should protect our seas and tackle climate in Coastal Ceredigion.


Thursday 11th February, 1 - 2pm: Alzheimer’s Society - Dementia Friends Training

Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. To help raise awareness and gain understanding, come along to the Dementia Friends Training so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the way they want.


Friday 12th February, 11am - 12pm: Connect to Kindness Campaign

Simple acts of kindness can make a big difference and benefit both you and those around you! Join the Connect to Kindness West Wales campaign and find out more about the benefits of Kindness and how it can truly play a big part in your life.


Friday 12th February, 1 - 4pm: Compassionate Listening Training

Join Aberystwyth Samaritans for this online training which will give you the confidence to support others. Learn about how to provide an impartial & non-judgemental safe space, learn how to convey empathy and help others to find advice or answers. This will be an interactive session with a mixture of group work and practical skills.
