Action days are one-off volunteering opportunities perfect for those who want to give something
back, gain new skills and meet new people without an on-going commitment. Whether it’s a beach clean, event fundraiser or a party for the elderly; providing you can give up a couple of hours of your time, we’ll support you to volunteer in the local community!
Actions days are delivered by the Students’ Union or local organisations that may need volunteers for one-off events. There is a range of one-off volunteering opportunities throughout the year and you can take part in as many as you would like!
Please note that action days are filled on a first come first serve basis. If you'd like to take part in any of these opportunities or find out more, email Amy - firstname.lastname@example.org
Term 1 Action Days 21
Fresher’s Beach Clean
Friday 1st October, 10.30am – 12pm
Meet us at ‘The Hut’ on South Beach for a morning clean. Breathe in some sea air, whilst supporting the community by helping to remove unwanted litter and plastic pollution from our beach.
We’ll provide the gloves, litter pickers, hoops and bin bags.
Dementia Friends Training
Tuesday 12th October, 3pm and Wednesday 13th October, 3pm.
Too many people affected by dementia feel that society fails to understand the condition they live with. Come along to the Dementia Friends Training so that people living with dementia can continue to live in the way they want. This online 45-minute session will help you to gain understanding and raise awareness.
Choose and register for which session you like to attend.
Strandline Survey and Beach Clean
Wednesday 3rd November, 2pm – 3.30pm
Meet us on Tan-y-Bwlch Beach Car Park where local ecologist Chloe Griffiths will be leading a strand line survey to document what has been washed ashore. Help to record and identify seaweed, shells and the shark egg cases with this data being sent to local biological records centre and the Shark Trust.
As we walk along the beach, we’ll also pick up litter. Gloves, litter pickers, hoops and bin bags will be provided.
Volunteer Day at Dyfi Donkeys
Friday 19th November, 10am – 4pm
Dyfi Donkeys is an engagement centre where people are able interact with donkeys for their health, wellbeing and enjoyment throughout the year. As part of the work to improve the site, they’re looking for volunteers to help replace an existing hedgerow and plant with edible native species for the donkeys.
You’ll get the chance to meet the donkeys, as well as get involved with hedge maintenance and planting.
Transport to the site will be provided by the Students’ Union.
More Days will be added throughout the Term and if you'd like to be kept up to date, register as a volunteer.
