Introducing Senedd - the 2018 student representative body!

Over the summer we've implemented changes to the democratic meetings known as Councils following consultation with students online or present at last year's Council and Zone meetings and approval from the board of trustees. We are so lucky to have Aber Students at the core of what we do and welcome you all to take advantage of your power as a student!

Senedd is the same as Union Council in its role as the highest decision making body in the SU, and to set out what AberSU believes in and works on by passing policies. All students can still submit ideas, and attend, but the voting membership of students that will make up Senedd has changed.

 This means at our meeting on the 22nd October, the members voting to approve your ideas will include;

-          5 Full Time Officers

-          6 Volunteer Officers (some roles to be filled in November Elections)

-          5 Faculty Representatives

-          2 UMCA Executive Members

-          5 Sports Club Representatives

-          5 Societies Representatives

 The Meeting is chaired by an elected chairperson, a fellow student.

For Senedd to be able to pass (or reject) new policies, there must be at least 50%+1 of voting members; so for this meeting, it will be 15. We’ve also revised the time limits on debates, will have a notification of policies due to lapse and we’re in the process of introducing a new priority vote system for agenda items- so you decide what gets talked about first.

Our first meeting will be on the 22nd October, discussing ideas such as Eating Disorder Awareness week and Sex work support.
