Saturday 2nd November saw the Aberystwyth University Harriers Club’s first ever organised 5k event take place down at the Seafront.
The ‘Aber Town 5k’ was deemed a huge success; with 80 people coming together to take part and raising over £1000 for MIND Aberystwyth.
Club President, Cara Farley said:
‘As a club we were looking forward to the challenge of organising a big event and as it was for such a great cause. There was a lot of “behind the scenes” organising but we couldn’t have done it without the Round Table for covering majority of the costs, Tesco Aberystwyth for their food donations, the support and donation of Aberystwyth Students’ Union, as well as to the volunteers who gave up their time to marshal the event. Delighted to announce we raised over £1,000 for Mind Aberystwyth and are looking to continue to raise awareness of mental health by doing more events and challenges in the new year.”
A big well done to the Harriers for organising such a successful event and for such a great cause too. If you’d like more information on the Harriers Athletics & Running Club, check out their webpage here. (Link: https://www.abersu.co.uk/club/harriers/)
