What committee are you part of and what roles have you held?

I have been part of the AAVS committee as the Events and Fundraising Coordinator for the academic year 2020/21.

What made you want to run for a committee role?

I really enjoyed being an active member of the society in my 2nd year, as it gave us opportunity to meet lots of new people in the industry and believed that I would be in a good position to continue organising such events.

What has been the most enjoyable part of being on committee?

Seeing the work that I have completed be enjoyed and appreciated by society members.

Can you tell us about a time where your role was challenging?

With the Covid situation, it hasn't been easy to stay motivated, or motivate members to stay engaged without meeting in person.

Do you feel that being on a committee has been beneficial in terms of preparing you for the future?

Yes, definitely!  It has developed my networking and public speaking skills, and actually expanded my knowledge for the subject.

What piece of advice would you give to an incoming committee member?

Be fully aware of the role you are taking on and ensure that you are able to balance it alongside your studies, especially in 3rd year and beyond when the workload picks up.
