Committee Q&A: Aleks Spasova

What committee are you part of and what roles have you held?

I am the current President of Men’s Basketball and Captain of the Women’s Basketball club.

What made you want to run for a committee role?

I have always been part of a team, but never part of the administrative work or from the preparation process before training and games. I wanted to experience the side of the sport which is unseen, but very important for the club to run.

What has been the most enjoyable part of being on committee?

The most enjoyable part was to see how your efforts are appreciated by the other members.

Can you tell us about a time where your role was challenging?

To be honest, I did not have a hard time being a part of the committee, however it was challenging sometimes to manage my time with university teaching.

Do you feel that being on a committee has been beneficial in terms of preparing you for the future?

Definitely, working with people always benefits you, as it teaches you to be patient, and more organised. 

What piece of advice would you give to an incoming committee member?

Not to be afraid to express themselves!
