Since 2017 we have worked hard to overhaul our training of Academic Reps across the University to support them in their role. Every year we take on their feedback in an effort to improve their experience of training, and are pleased to see that this year 99% of beginner reps (an increase 1.3%) and 100% of returner reps (an increase of 4.5%) found training to be useful.
One of the priorities of our Academic Affairs Officer this year is for “students, staff and representatives to understand and value the purpose of the academic representation system and their role within it.” It was therefore encouraging to see that reps felt training was motivating valuable and helpful, all of which are important, as your Academic Rep should be visible and effective with their role.

With Academic Reps trained and the first SSCC meetings having taken place across departments, you can now ask your reps what feedback was raised and also find out what actions have been put in place, as well as what else might be going on in your department or across the University!
