🥾 Cors Fochno (En)

- OVERVIEW -
Cors Fochno is a UNESCO biosphere reserve, the only such one in Wales. A raised peat bog, it's known for its astounding biodiversity, particularly its mosses. There's several other important locations along the walk- such as the salt marshes of Dyfi estuary, a plaque to a little known connection to an English boarding school, and St Matthews. If we are particularly lucky, we might even see some feral horses.

- Details -
Starting in the peaceful seaside town of Borth, we'll trace a route past St, Matthews, by the plaque to the Uppingham School. From there, out along the Ceredigion Coast path, we'll explore the unique raised peat bog from the safety of the path. There is some road walking included in this, as we cross over to the nature reserve itself. From the boardwalk, we'll be able to observe the birds and enjoy nature- likely lunching there. We'll then walk along the River Leri, before ended up on the other side of Borth. This hike is ranked as a level 2 due to its length- it is 17.3 km in total, but only includes 85m of ascent gain across this distance.

- MEETING, TIME, TRANSIT -
Meet at 10:15 on the platform for the train station: https://maps.app.goo.gl/q2dckFmu27wLF4nn7
We will be taking the train directly to Borth, where we will start our walk. The train ride should take about 15 minutes. The walk itself should take around four and a half hours, and we'll end at the train station. The train we're aiming for is the 16:05 train to Aberystwyth- if we miss that, there are pubs to kill time in Borth, and a train at 17:07.
There are toilets near the start of the hike.
