Who are we?

Aberystwyth University Hiking Club organise a hike every week on Sundays. Our hikes are a great way to explore Wales on foot, meet new people and learn things about yourself and the environment. They're a fantastic day out and loads of fun, whatever the weather! We run hikes in Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian Mountains, just to name some.

What else?

Every academic year, the club arranges a number of weekends away. We set off for a couple of days hiking at some of our favourite spots around the UK. We sleep in bunkhouses or hostels right in the heart of the countryside. The extra time allows us to experience our environment in a way day hikes won't allow. In the evenings, we get plenty of time to chat, drink, play games and get familiar with one another. It's an amazing way to bond with members of the club and a great laugh.
We run Socials every Thursday, for fun but relaxed night out. Each week we run a different theme and a different pub just to keep things interesting. You can sign up to hikes at the Socials too.

Why join?

If you love the outdoors, want to stay healthy, and meet new people, we're for you. Aberhike is among the largest and most active outdoor sports clubs in Aberystwyth, with weekly trips to the mountains and longer residential tours throughout the year. We welcome all abilities and fitness levels, from experienced hikers to people who have never set foot on the mountains. All our leaders are trained through a BMC-certified Mountain Leader Award and hold Emergency First Aid qualifications, so you may enjoy yourselves without having to worry. We attract members of all ages and nationalities. Aberhike is particularly popular among International Exchange students as it poses a great way to get out of Aber and see the rest of Wales and the UK, as well as countryside unique to the world.
