What is Student Media?

A Student Media Group is a student-led volunteering project within the Students' Union, formed with the aim of providing enriching volunteering opportunities for aberystwyth students to produce publications, broadcasts, print and digital media. 

 

Training for Student Media Groups

As well as relevant project leaders completing training required for their role as part of being a volunteering project in general, any project leader or student media group volunteer approving content will also need to complete Media Law training which is usually available before the start of Septmber term. Throughout the year, there are also other sessions on offer to help you to develop your group. For more information on training visit the Team Aber Resource Hub.

 

Editorial Process

This process exists to limit the risk associated with all content, written and broadcast. This process ensures there is always accountability, adequate support and proofreading given, to ensure student media groups comply with media law. This process can be found in the Student Media Code.

Student Media groups are to abide the Student Media Code, alongside other relevent Union processes, by-laws and governing documents for students and student groups.

Facilities for Student Media

There is a student media room in the Students' Union to use, booking the space can be made by contacting union@aber.ac.uk
