Student Group Accreditation

Team Aber Accreditation
Recognising and Celebrating your Club or Society’s Success!

The Team Aber Accreditation is an annual award that recognises the hard work, growth, and achievements of Aberystwyth student clubs and societies. It’s designed to help every group develop into the most successful version of themselves; while celebrating the amazing impact they make within the student community.

How It Works

Each year, clubs and societies can work towards their Team Aber Accreditation by recording their achievements across a variety of key areas. These include:

  • Undeb Participation - taking part in key Undeb events such as Freshers Fair, AGM, Elections, and more.
  • Membership - maintaining and growing membership numbers throughout the year.
  • Activity - delivering regular activities and events relevant to your group’s purpose, including RAG events, campaigns, socials, and workshops.
  • Community - contributing to the wider community through fundraising, volunteering locally, and collaborating with other clubs, societies, or organisations.
  • Committee - ensuring committee members complete Undeb training, log volunteering hours, and run the group in line with SU policies.
  • Communication - keeping webpages and social media up to date, promoting bilingualism, and engaging with Undeb social channels.
  • Finance - producing an annual budget, generating income through external funding, and ensuring membership income benefits members directly.
  • Inclusivity - running inclusive events, ensuring committee members attend EDI training, and actively managing barriers members might face.
  • Wellbeing - promoting positive wellbeing through your group’s activities, including sober socials and supportive initiatives.

The document can be viewed as PDF here. However, all achievements are logged in each group’s Microsoft Teams folder, where committee members can update progress and upload evidence throughout the year. This working document helps Student Opportunities staff and elected Student Officers review and award progress termly.

A Development Tool for Your Group

The accreditation isn’t just about recognition; it’s also a development tool. It helps clubs and societies set meaningful goals and track their growth, such as:

  • Increasing membership numbers
  • Organising events and activities
  • Delivering equality and diversity initiatives
  • Improving committee skills and sustainability

By reflecting on these areas, groups can better plan their year, celebrate successes, and identify areas for improvement.

The Star Rating System

At the end of each academic year, each group receives a Team Aber Star Rating, showcasing their dedication and progress:

1 Star - Developing: Getting started and setting strong foundations
⭐⭐ 2 Stars - Good: Building consistency and engagement
⭐⭐⭐ 3 Stars - Very Good: Delivering great experiences across all areas
⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4 Stars - Excellent: Excelling across all criteria and leading by example

Your star rating is a great way to show off your achievements to current and prospective members, highlighting what makes your club or society an essential part of Team Aber.
