Nightline is a free and confidential listening service open Friday-Tuesday, 8pm to 8am during term time.
Who are we?
Aberystywth Nightline is an anonymous and confidential listening and information service, run by students, for students. All of our volunteers are fully trained and we’re here to listen. No issue is too big or too small. We aim to provide a safe, non-judgemental space for callers, whether they are in crisis, or would just like to chat (and anything in between).
What do we do?
We’re open 8pm-8am Friday to Tuesday during term time and can be contacted by phone, our instant messaging service, or by email (which is available even when we’re closed). Further updates will follow relating to our service in the new term, since we are expecting some changes due to Covid-19.
We run training sessions for new volunteers each term, which usually run over two consecutive weekends. There’s no application process for this so you’re welcome to just come along on the day – we’d love to meet you! Nightline is also a suitable placement for second year Psychology students.
Email us on firstname.lastname@example.org for more infomation on how get involved!
Nightline is dedicated to the inclusion and acceptance of all members regardless of age, race, ethnicity, ability, culture or nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religious affiliation, socioeconomic status and marital status.

MEET OUR COMMITTEE!
President - Jenni
Hi there, my name is Jenni and I’m the president of Nightline! It’s my job to keep things running as smoothly as possible and managing the committee – I also happen to be our training officer, so I’ll be the one helping you all become trained Nightline volunteers! We’re really looking forward to welcoming and working with all of you in the new year.
Communications Officer - Jo
Hi, I’m a second year psychology student here at Aberystwyth. I first trained for Nightline in my first year, and I’ve loved being part of our community and doing everything we can to look after student wellbeing, and raising awareness for mental health. As communications officer, I’m in charge of lots of emailing, and I take minutes during all our meetings and make sure they are uploaded where everyone can see them and stay up to date with everything that’s going on. In my spare time I enjoy going for long walks, and watching crime thrillers on Netflix!!
