Aber MathsSoc is open to all lovers (or haters!) of maths, not just students of the subject! We run socials, trips and academic events throughout the year.

About Us

Welcome to MathsSoc! We are a small, friendly society with members from all kinds of degrees. We provide a place to meet other students, have some fun, and make your experience at Aber the best it can be!

What We Do

Social Life

We hold weekly themed socials that usually follow a route of several pubs and clubs throughout the night; these are our 'drinking socials' but non-drinkers are just as welcome. We pride ourselves on our safe, supportive and no-pressure environment so that everyone can enjoy themselves safely and have a great night out! To balance this out we also have 'sober socials' which include film nights, pub quizzes and online gaming.
All socials will be advertised through our social media a few days before so make sure to follow us! We encourage suggestions from our members and will try our upmost to accomodate these requests.
We have a Discord server for our members to keep in touch during the week, and we also run online socials on there.
At the end of each semester, we host a meal which gives you the chance to wear your best dress and celebrate all of your hard work. COVID permitting, we have plans for day trips to local towns along with bowling, ice-skating, the cinema and an escape room.

Academic Life

We have strong ties with the mathematics department and can be found at most departmental events, such as open days, freshers week and science week.
For Maths students, we provide a space for study sessions as well as being a society full of members that are more than happy to help you with your studies. Our Discord server has helpful resources for your degree, along with places to share and discuss maths that has excited us.
For everyone, we host talks from lecturers and the IMA, arrange employability workshops, and organise trips to mathematical-based conferences.

Meet the Committee

We are your 21/22 committee and are excited to make your time here the best it can be!
Feel free to email any of us to introduce yourself or ask any questions about the society or the university, or message us on social media.
