The first couple of months have flown by, with a load of things happening. During the first week, we went to the NUS conference in Liverpool; it was a worthwhile experience and an opportunity to meet other sabbatical officers from other parts of the United Kingdom. The following week gave us a chance to celebrate with the graduation ceremonies. I was glad of the opportunity to make a speech on behalf of the students' union, to emphasise the importance of the social experience to your degree. I organised the UMCA degree ceremony at the end of the week, which is an important part of the UMCA Calendar. It was great to get Emyr Llywelyn as guest speaker on the night.

One of the University's biggest marketing events is the National Eisteddfod, which was held in Abergavenny this year. I had the pleasure of being on the University stand throughout the week, and it was great to meet many potential students on the stand and in Maes B. The highlight of the festival was the UMCA Mid Summer Reunion, which brought together a number of members, former members and potential members; I'm grateful to Tymbal who played at the event.

Before I had fully recovered from the Eisteddfod, I had the opportunity to attend Talwrn, which is NUS Wales' main training event. It was great to have the event in Aberystwyth, and even better that it was held in Pantycelyn.

As well as this, I've been busy preparing and planning to welcome the students back to Aber. The arrangements for Freshers' Week are more or less in place, and I'n glad to announce that a new night nas been added to the line-up for this year, under the title 'Feeding the 5,000'. I've also launched UMCA's brand new logo, which will be suitable for the next forty years. Although Aberystwyth is a great place to be during the summer, I'm looking forward to the end of September and the excitement of Freshers' Week.
