Earlier this month we launch the very important, much planned ‘Love, Hate Rate’ survey to get an idea of what you’re thoughts about accommodation here in Aberystwyth. It’s a really simple survey which can make the world of difference to other students here at Aber, with all that lovely data that we collect helping us to make evidenced changes to letting agents, landlords and student accommodation.
Accommodation is somewhere you’re supposed to feel safe and protected, somewhere to call home and somewhere to go back to, be after that really difficult lecture you just didn’t want to go to or after a heavy night out! It’s a place for your bed to call to you from, a place where you are supposed to feel warm, cosy and happy in. It’s a place of partying, laughing with friends and making memories. It is home.
I remember once in first year, our whole flat sat on my tiny single bed watching tangled and eating popcorn and I wouldn’t change that memory for the world. It’s what started my university experience and ultimately decided how much I would love my time here at Aber. Friend after friend recount their love for their housemates, the parties they threw and the late night cuddles with dominos that got them through those tough few months. They talk about their homes.
Unfortunately, far too often students are coming across boundaries and hurdles that stop your house from being your home. Be that issues with deposit, leaky taps or showers, damp and mould, broken heating, ridiculous bills, rent that’s sky high and so, so many more! The only way we can help you change any of this is to get some information from you guys.
