What do you do in your role?

My aim is to provide a safe place for my fellow students to come and share their concerns with me, which I can then take to the appropriate forums for resolution.

What do you study at university?

I am pursuing MBA in Project Management.

What is your proudest achievement to date?

Before moving to Aber for further studies, I worked with BT India for nine years. In my last role with BT, I got the opportunity to work on two of the biggest programmes. This was a phenomenal moment for me as I could actually see how my contributions were actually shaping the programmes and BT’s future.

Are there any women mentors that inspire you to continue learning and representing students?

My mother is my greatest inspiration when it comes to learning. Not only did she make sure that I get the best possible education back in India, but she also teaches neighbourhood kids who need some extra help but whose parents cannot pay for tutors.

Outside of being a rep, what do you enjoy doing?

I enjoy watching comedy shows on Netflix. I am currently watching ‘Seinfeld’ for the Nth time!

Do you have any advice for women entering (degree) or becoming a rep?

From my professional experience, I would advise women to use their time at the University in acquiring new skills and interacting with students from other countries and cultures, as these elements are quite valuable at the workplace.

Also, as reps, it’s important that we use the forums available to us to raise points that impact our fellow students. Ask the right questions and we can get people to open up, and that’s when change truly happens.
