Hey guys! I’m Mared, your UMCA President and Welsh Culture Officer, here are my top places to eat on a budget!!
Like most University towns one of the top budget restaurants has to be the classic, Wetherspoons. Located directly by the train station down in town spoons is a great place to go for some food and drinks with your mates to line your stomachs for a night out or recover from a nasty hangover the next day.
Personally, my favourite place to grab a takeaway that’s relatively cheaper and somewhat healthier than most (but not enough to make it not feel like a treat) has to be Fusion King!!! I recommend the Pad Thai and the Honey Chicken rice box…. Thank me later!
Here in Aberystwyth there’s an endless list of small, local cafes, shops and Delis. Here’s a selected few based on the places I’ve visited and would recommend.
Cafes:
- Sophie’s
- Mikey’s
- Ceasers
- Home Café
Restaurants/Pubs:
- Yr Hen Lew Du – This is the place to go for some proper homemade Pub Grub! The Burgers are bigger than your head and you can get a 12oz steak with all the trimmings for just £15! Absolute bargain!!
- Harry’s
- Inn on the Pier
- The White Horse
We also have a couple Deli’s here in Aberystwyth – my Favourites being Morgan’s and Chives. Morgans do the BEST breakfast Baps and if you’re looking for massive portions and small prices this is the place to go!! Chives is more of a sandwich/salad bar that’s great for a quick and healthy lunch.
Hopefully this gives you a little insight to all of the amazing places to eat in Aber. Suppose you could make it your mission to try them all out over your time here. Let me know how you get on! I look forward to welcoming you all in September. If there’s anything us officers can help with, give us a shout!
See you soon,
Mared.
