MEET THE SU TEAM
Over the Summer, it’s time for us as a Students’ Union to reflect on the year that’s just been, prepare to welcome new and current students to Aber in September and put plans in place for a full events and activity programme for 2020-2021.
The summer months are also a time to welcome and train new officer teams in readiness for the year ahead. Supporting the officer team are a family of SU staff working behind the scenes to ensure Aberystwyth students have the opportunity to love student life and be ready for anything.
We would love to take the opportunity over the next few months to introduce our AberSU family – who are all here for you if you need help, advice or a chat.

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I studied Youth and Community Work at University and then went on to working in a variety of settings; before this role I was working on a project tackling Period Poverty in Manchester.
It’s your last meal on earth…what’s on the menu?
Momo dumplings
Outside of work, what are your favourite pastimes or hobbies?
Socialising, going to gigs and festivals, cooking and making cocktails!
What do you love about working in Aberystwyth?
I love my drive into work in the morning, seeing the rolling hills and the sea
If you weren’t in your SU role…what would you be? Helping people in another role somewhere.
What part(s) of your job do you enjoy the most? Helping students with a wide variety of issues.
Before working here, have you had much involvement with the students’ union or student groups? Not with students’ unions, but I did used to work for a sixth form college, so have experience of working with younger students.
AberSU is… a great place to work.
AberSU is not… just a bar!
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself (something people may be surprised to learn):
I took part in The Vagina Monologues when I was 14!
Why did you join the team here at AberSU?
People always spoke about ‘hiraeth’ when I was younger, and I didn’t really get it until I left Wales (I grew up on the Llyn peninsula).
