My favourite memories from this year in my role start with Welcome Week, when us five officers hosted the fresher’s quiz. We were so happy with how many people turned up and how well it went, especially as it was most of the officers first time hosting! Since then, I’ve also hosted many Postgrad cheese & wine evenings, an International Women’s Day afternoon tea and the annual Teaching, Learning and Student Experience Awards (TLSE, formally Staff and Student Awards).

The TLSE Awards night was my proudest moment as it was nice to see all my work come together and celebrate the amazing members of Aber Uni and the Students’ Union. It was also great to present awards to staff and students along with the Academic Affairs Elect, Anna; Academic Reps, Jess & Madison, as well as Ash, Dafi, Cam and Rachel.  The Postgrad cheese and wine evenings were also a success this year and I loved hosting the IWD Afternoon Tea, as I didn’t get the chance last year and it was great for AU and SU staff and AU students to come together and celebrate being women. I also arranged Trish, our CEO, to talk which was so inspirational and great to everyone to hear. One of my wins this year was putting together a report on Diversifying the Curriculum, which was submitted to Academic Board. This pulled together students’ views on how diverse their curriculum is and will hopefully be used to make some positive changes at Aber. I am so thankful to the students who gave detailed and honest feedback about their curriculum and felt passionate about diversifying the curriculum at Aber Uni.

It has been great to be a part of the student movement for the past two years and I can’t wait to see what Anna does next in the role of Academic Affairs Officer!smiley
