Club of the Month Award
Aber SU is delighted to announce the winner of Club of the Month (November) 2020 is Showdance!
This student group has worked very hard to adapt to the Covid-19 environment, adjusting their training regime, organising multiple virtual events, and raising funds for amazing causes throughout the month!
One of the nominators stated: ‘Even through the restrictions… due to coronavirus, Showdance have already this year strived to help others by raising money for Children in Need via their ‘Tapathon’ event and in the quiz held to raise money to refurbish the Hen Goleg.’
The nominations also included greatly detailed descriptions of the club’s all-inclusive policy, welcoming approach, and multiple online classes, which kept members happy and healthy during the isolation period.
‘When many things were cancelled because of the lockdown, they provided up to 5 classes a week online to allow people to keep dancing and stayed positive and upbeat, as well as weekly socials which were well organised events and activities that people were also able to participate in via Teams.’
The Opportunities Team have seen the dedication of the club in abundance since the start of the academic year, through the virtual events ran during Fresher’s Week, and the continued commitment to delivering engaging training and socials to their members.
Showdance’s Committee response was: "All of the committee are extremely pleased to receive this recognition for our hard work and dedication in the first semester! Despite it being a very strange start to the year, we have loved being able to dance and socialise with all our members, albeit virtually. We'd like to thank all our members and everybody who has continued to support Showdance."
The commitment and dedication, not only shown to their members but also to the charitable causes they have engaged with make them very deserving of this award.
