Nate - Union President 2020-21

Hey everyone, I’m Nate. I’m from the Wirral (near Liverpool) and I studied Maths and Theatre Joint Honours at Aber. I ran for President because I felt Aber really needed someone who cares and will constantly be putting students first. My main focus this year is to look at all aspects of student life and see how we can work to improve students' mental health and wellbeing.

Tell us an interesting or random fact about yourself...

I used to live and work in Italy as an actor in a theatre tour based on James Bond's childhood.

Choose three words that best describe you.

Loyal, Honest, Caring.

It’s your last meal on earth…what’s on the menu?

Don’t make me choose just one. I’d take one of everything on the menu.

Do you have any hobbies or interests?

I love theatre, especially the weird stuff. Lacrosse and Beer Pong I’m rather fond of too.

Why did you choose to stand for this role?

I thought that Aber needed someone confident and caring to stand up for students and always put them at the centre of everything that we do.

What are you looking forward to this year?

I can't wait to get started on the first of my policies and start the introduce the positive change I plan to create.

What are some causes you care about?

I think its well-known that I have strong feelings towards creating a safe stigma free space for students to talk about their mental health. I also believe, in conjunction with this, that sport and society involvement is extremely important, and also reducing stress as much as possible during exam time.

What is your favourite Aberystwyth hangout?

Somewhere high; the Viewpoint, Consti, Pendinas. Also a big fan of Ynyslas.

If you were a superhero, what powers would you have?

Just turn me into Mr Incredible so that I could actually win Tug of War at Superteams and then I will be happy.

Name a favourite place you have visited and why.

Belluno in Italy; the most generous and warm hearted people ever and a view that I’ve never experienced before.
