Mid-November see’s the first of a number of Staff Student Consultative Committees (SSCC) held across departments where staff and academic reps come together to discuss student feedback and improve the academic interests of all students at Aberystwyth University.
This year a record number of Academic Reps have attended training with over 75% of elected reps having attended training up from just 42% last year. All reps that attend training and their staff student consultative committees receive a certificate and will have the role included on their Higher Education Achievement Record.
Satisfaction with training is also high, helped with the introduction of a new shorter training for returning reps and with the collection training evaluation sheets. Overall satisfaction of training is 93% for reps attending beginners training and 94% for reps attending returners training respectively with training described as helpful, informative, supportive and clear.
We’re also please to unveil today a new ‘find my rep’ page on our website where you can search for your Academic Rep using your institute or department. In addition, we are currently working with Information Services on a similar feature that will show your rep via ApAber.
In the weeks, ahead we’ll be collating and analysing SSCC minutes from across departments to identify trends. We’ll also be meeting with reps directly to get feedback on their experiences of SSCCs as part of a wider review of the Academic Representative system.
