The next AberSU Council will be on Monday, 30/04/18, from 6pm at the Main Room, Students' Union.

What is it?

The AberSU Student Council is an event we run to make sure that members have a say about our activities, political standpoints and more!

Who can attend?

Every registered student is automatically a member of the Students’ Union and can attend and speak at a Council.

The right to vote is reserved for the elected student representatives as follows:

  • Full Time Officers
  • Part Time Officers
  • Institute Reps
  • Academic Reps
  • UMCA Executive
  • 3 Committee Members from each Sports Club and Society to be taken by the chairperson, secretary and treasurer or equivalent.

The Council can only proceed with 50 voting members in the room.

We are committed to ensuring equal access to all our students. If you have any queries relating to accessibility, or require any of the Council documents in a specific format please let us know!

What language will be spoken?

During the Council you can choose to speak in Welsh or English!

Simultaneous translation from Welsh to English will be available during the meeting via a conference call service so please bring along your phone.

This service will use an 03 number which costs no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and counts towards any inclusive minutes.

What happens during the Council?

  • Receive a full activity report from the Union Development Officer
  • Debate and vote on submissions from other students to improve Aber. Known as “Ideas”, if they are voted through they become part of our work for the next 3 years.

What’s up for debate?

We’ve had 8 Ideas from students for this month’s Council:
