- Description -
Meet at the Lidl carpark for 23:15. At absolute latest, we will be leaving at 23:30- hopefully, everybody will be prompt, and it will be earlier, but we understand that it's very early or very late, dependent on how you want to look at it. We'll then head to the Dol Idris parking lot- the toilets will not be open, so go before you leave. At absolute latest, we will start the hike at 00:45.
Civil sunrise is set to be at 5:16 AM, and we hope to be at the summit for that time. Whilst 4.5 hours for 4.5km seems generous by our more standard walking speed, it is important to note that we will be hiking, for the most part, in complete darkness, with nautical twilight not set to start until around 3:30 AM. We must allow for additional time for the ascent.
The path we have chose takes us along the ridge for a long period, going up Minffordd, meaning that if we miss our time for the summit, we should still be able to enjoy a clear view of the sunrise over the mountains to the east and Llyn Cau.
We intend to take our time at the summit with the sunrise- some of us might bring small stoves to cook some food, but we do not want to overpack or overload. Once we've enjoyed the bounty of the glorious sunrise, we'll head down either the same way we went up, or down Minffordd East, dependent on group mood and legs. I estimate us getting back to the car park at around 08:00, and back to Aberystwyth for 09:00, where we can hit up Spoons, Little Devil's, Home Cafe, Sophie's, Y Gornel, etc for a second breakfast, if we're awake enough to.
As we are hiking at night, it is important you have enough layers and food to keep you warm and going. It is vital that the hike leader's instructions are followed- failure to do so could result in the entire hike having to turn back.
The hike should be around 10.7km with around 980m of ascent.

- Meetings, Timings, and Transport -
We will be traveling by minibus. We’ll meet at Lidl Car Park at 23:15- we will be leaving by 23:30. Due to time restrictions, if you are not on the minibus by 23:30, we will be leaving without you.

To repeat- we will depart Aberystwyth at 23:15, and we should be back around 09:00.
