Aberystwyth University Women's Rugby
Welcome!! Croeso!!
We welcome players of all abilities, including those who have never picked up a rugby ball before. With supportive training sessions and encouragement from a friendly, experienced team, you’ll quickly learn the skills and strategies you need to enjoy the game. If you’re an experienced player, you’ll have the chance to further develop your skills, strengthen the team, and share your knowledge with newcomers.
You don’t even have to play to be part of the squad. Many of our members enjoy supporting from the sidelines, helping out behind the scenes, or simply being part of our close-knit community. Whether you want to play, assist, or just hang out with a group of fun, supportive girls, there’s a place for you here.
TRAINING:

Our women’s rugby team trains twice a week, on Mondays 8pm-9pm, Tuesdays 8am-9am and Fridays 7pm-8:30pm, in a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you’re new to rugby or an experienced player, our training sessions focus on helping you develop your skills, improve fitness, and grow in confidence—all while having fun and feeling part of a strong, encouraging team.
Our weekly games take place on Wednesdays as part of the BUCS league, giving players the chance to put their training into practice and compete against other universities. Beyond these regular fixtures, occasional extra games and opportunities arise to further improve skills, gain experience, and challenge ourselves in different settings.
Whether you’re looking to play, learn, or support the team from the sidelines, our training and games are designed to make everyone feel included, valued, and part of our close-knit rugby community.
SOCIALS:

Rugby isn’t just about what happens on the pitch – it’s about the friendships, fun, and community that come with being part of a team. Our Wednesday socials are at the heart of our women’s rugby society, offering a chance to relax, laugh, and connect with teammates from all years.
We host a variety of events to suit everyone’s style. From creative themed nights like Toy Story, Army, or Back to School, to relaxed sober socials for anyone who prefers a quieter evening, there’s always something to get involved in. These socials are the perfect opportunity to build lasting friendships, celebrate team spirit, and experience the energy that makes our society so special.
Whether you’re an experienced player or new to rugby, joining our socials is a great way to feel part of the team. Everyone is welcome – come along, meet the squad, and discover the vibrant community that makes our women’s rugby society more than just a sport.
