If you're an experienced archer or a new beginner looking to get into the sport, AberArchers welcome all. With all equipment provided there's no excuse not to come along and have a good time.
Welcome to AberArchers!
As a student run club we unite over 100 students every year. We are mainly an indoor club and we provide all the equipment you need to shoot. With membership, you will also become an Archery GB member which means you can shoot at your local club at home over the holidays and the summer. We provide a relaxed environment for members to shoot socially, but for those of you who are more competitive we also attend numerous competitions throughout the year. We are now part of the SWWU league which competes 5-6 times a year against other universities in the South West and Wales region. We provide in-club competitions and compete locally within the Dyfed county as well as nationally at events like BUCS, British Barebow and the Welsh Open. So if you’re more of social shooter or the kind of person that wants lots of shiny medals we’ve got it covered!
This year, our shooting times in the sports cage are as follows:
Wednesday 3:00pm - 5:00pm
Saturday 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Our membership scheme splits membership between social shooting and those of you who are more interested in competing.
Standard Membership covers affiliation to Archery GB, Welsh Archery and Dyfed County as well as the upkeep and replacement of equipment and stuff for fun shoots. So for those of you who would just like to spend time with your mates shooting stuff this is the membership for you.
However, if competing is your thing then the Team Membership will also cover travel and entry fee costs for competitions you attend, with the addition of a £5 fee just to help us keep up attendance.
Anyone who is new to archery will also have to attend our beginners course which runs twice a year, one after fresher's week and also one after Christmas. The course lasts for 6 weeks and the fresher's one starts on the 2nd of October.
COVID UPDATE: With the cancellation of most events, Team memberships isn't available this year. Also with the difficulties with memberships this year, half year will not be available either. Only 10 spaces will be available on the beginner's course due to restrictions on how many people can attend a session.
Standard Membership £30 full year
Social Membership £10 full year
Associate Membership £20 per semester
Beginners Course £15 per person (10 spaces available)
So whether you’re new or returning we hope you enjoy your time with us on shoots and socials this year!
Don’t forget to check out our website and follow us on Facebook and Instagram. If you have any questions or queries then just shoot us an email at the club account club54@aber.ac.uk.
Happy Shooting!
