The Aberystwyth Union of Students recognises UNISON as being the legitimate representatives for the purpose of negotiation and collective bargaining. Members of UNISON within the Union are part of the University branch of UNISON.

Each training need is considered on its merits in line with organisational as well as personal objectives.
Training needs will be identified in the following ways:-
- Through the annual review system
- Through ad hoc recommendations from a Manager
- Through an approach made by the staff member
