In accordance with legal requirements, the Union has employers' liability and public liability insurance cover. This is in order to protect both employees and visitors. On occasion, this could result in claims against the Union for negligence. You are not authorized to admit liability for the Union and under no circumstances must you do so.
The Union does not take responsibility for the personal belongings of staff members whilst at work and staff should store belongings in a safe place. As the Union is open to the public, vigilance must be adopted, even in areas where the public would not normally be granted access. If you do not have access to a safe space, such as a lockable drawer or cupboard, please speak to your Line Manager. Valuable, personal Items should not be left under your desk or on display. If, despite precautions, you suspect any of your personal belongings have been stolen, please report the incident to your Line Manager who can report it to the Police, if appropriate.
