GOVERNANCE AND ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE

Contact

As a registered charity, The Union is governed by a Trustee Board which consists of:

5 x Full-time Officer Trustees

2 x Student Trustees

5 x External Trustees

The Board is responsible for the governance, strategic direction and financial stability of the Union, ensuring it is legally compliant and solvent.  It must ensure that the Union acts in the interests of its members in all that it does and delegates responsibility to the Chief Executive to manage the organisation effectively, efficiently and appropriately.

AberSU also has a named student representative body where members can submit ideas and decide what AberSU believes and works on. All students can submit ideas, attend and speak; however only certain student representatives can vote including the Union’s Full-time Officers and a number of Volunteer Officers elected annually by cross campus ballot.

Full Time Officers

The Students’ Union elects a number of students to work full time to lead the Students’ Union, develop the student experience & represent student interests to the University and beyond.

Volunteer Officers

The Students’ Union also elects a number of students to represent particular groups of students or lead on particular issues / campaigns. These are volunteer roles which students fulfil in between their studies.

Staff

The Union employs staff to provide professional services, to support elected officers and to ensure continuity for the organisation.  Staff are employed under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and on behalf of the Trustee Board.  Your job description will contain the expectations of your role and will include who you report to/manage in your role.
