Roles: NUS Conference Delegates

NUS Conference Delegates attend National Union of Students (NUS) conferences to represent Aberystwyth University students. Delegates can vote on our behalf and take part in discussions.

The time commitment required is the duration of the conference (including time required to travel to and from the location) as well as a briefing before and debriefing after the conference. The Students’ Union covers conference registration fees, accommodation and travel for all delegates.


National Conference (Glasgow) – 9th/10th/11th April 2019 – 3 positions

National Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of NUS and brings together nearly a thousand delegates from students’ unions across the country to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership of NUS for the year ahead.

All delegations to National Conference must include at least 50% women rounded down.


NUS Wales Conference (Cardiff) – 26th/27th March 2019 – 4 positions

NUS Wales Conference is where students’ unions set the priorities for the year ahead. Delegates will hear from inspirational speakers, debate the future of NUS Wales, and elect their leaders.

All delegations to NUS Wales Conference must include at least 50% women rounded down.


Postgraduate Students’ Conference – 29th / 30th January 2019 – 1 position

NUS Postgraduate Students’ Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of the Postgraduate Students’ Campaign which is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

This Conference brings together post-graduates from students’ unions affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.


Disabled Students’ Campaign Conference – 8th/9th May 2019 – 1 position

NUS Disabled Students’ Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of the Disabled Students’ Campaign which is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

This Conference brings together self-defing delegates from students’ unions affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.


Women Students’ Conference – 22nd/23rd May 2019 – 3 positions (1x open, 1x black and 1x black, disabled or LGBT)

NUS Women Students’ Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of the Women Students’ Campaign which is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

This Conference brings together self-defining delegates from students’ unions affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.


LGBT+ Students’ Conference – 5th March 2019 – 3 positions (1x trans, 1x black, 1x women’s)

NUS LGBT+ Students’ Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of the LGBT+ Students’ Campaign which is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

This Conference brings together delegates from students’ unions affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.

All delegations to LGBT+ Students Conference must include at least 50% women rounded down.


Trans Students’ Conference – 30th / 31st March 2019 – 5 positions (1x open, 1x non-binary, 1x women’s, 1x black, 1x disabled)

NUS Trans Students’ Conference is the sovereign policy-making body of the Trans Students’ Campaign which is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

This Conference brings together self-defining delegates from students’ unions affiliated to NUS UK to discuss, debate and vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.
