Here are your Undeb Aber Full-time Officers, they were elected by Aber students in March and work Full-time for a year to develop the student experience & represent your interests to the University and beyond! Here are their priorities for this year.

Millie Hackett – Union President 

  • This year, Millie will focus on making the Union better for the future and ensuring the student voice is heard. 

  • Aberystwyth students will feel heard and represented. Regularly speaking with students to understand the challenges they face, ensuring we have the information needed to bring to the University and to guide the Union’s work. 

  • Aberystwyth students will grow and show employability skills through University and Undeb initiatives. 

  • Should Aberystwyth University replace Starbucks with a more sustainable, local coffee brand. 

  • Should Undeb Aber and the university transform the botany gardens into the ‘Penglais Botanic Gardens’, a dynamic, productive space for science, learning, and wellbeing? 

  • We should host an annual SHAG Week. 

  • Sex Work Is Just That, Work. 


Esperanza Bizama Monnier - Academic Affairs 

  • Aberystwyth students will feel heard and represented. Regularly speaking with students to understand the challenges they face, ensuring we have the information needed to bring to the University and to guide the Union’s work. 

  • The process of reassessment will be accessible: 

  • Ensure that resits are provided without fees or grade caps. 

  • Make sure all students are aware of potential changes surrounding resits.  

  • Review and optimise the scheduling and frequency of reassessments. 

  • Mitigate the impact of resits on all Aber students. I.e International and Disabled students. 

  • Replace the Statue of Edward VIII by the Old College. 

  • Undeb Aberystwyth should continue to support trans and gender diverse students by providing gender affirming products. 

  • Should Undeb Aber resist and campaign against the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on Gender?  


Nanw Maelor - Welsh Culture Officer & UMCA President 

  • Aberystwyth students will feel heard and represented. Regularly speaking with students to understand the challenges they face, ensuring we have the information needed to bring to the University and to guide the Union’s work. 

  • Create and establish an official constitution for UMCA: 

  • Discuss with UMCA committee and members what values are important to them and what UMCA's relationship with the Undeb and the University should look like in their eyes. 

  • Establish a constitution that ensures a framework of safety for UMCA as an institution for the future. 

  • Create a sub-committee to focus on the constitution. 

  • Work with the Undeb to discuss how we can create a constitution that mutually benefits both parties. 

  • Should Aberystwyth Students’ Union change its name and be recognized as Undeb Aberystwyth? 

  • Should Undeb Aber end use of their 'X' profile and lobby the University to do the same? 

  • Zero Tolerance Stance on Discrimination, Sexual Harassment and Assault. 


Ffion Johns - Student Opportunities 

  • Aberystwyth students will feel heard and represented. Regularly speaking with students to understand the challenges they face, ensuring we have the information needed to bring to the University and to guide the Union’s work. 

  • Ensuring belonging is embedded across the University and Students’ Union: 

  • Develop LGBTQIA+ friendly flats in university accommodation and collaborate with the accommodation team to improve the application process. 

  • Increase engagement in student groups by supporting RAG, Give It a Go, and actively promoting societies and clubs to members. 

  • Ensure every student feels connected and able to find their Aber community. 

  • Redeveloping the University Sports Facilities. 

  • Bring back Rag charities. 

  • Arts Fest. 

  • The University and Undeb Aber should suspend their banking with fossil fuel investment banks and switch to a more ethical, green bank instead. 


Tanaka Chikomo - Wellbeing 

  • Aberystwyth students will feel heard and represented. Regularly speaking with students to understand the challenges they face, ensuring we have the information needed to bring to the University and to guide the Union’s work. 

  • Simplify and centralise the special circumstances procedure. 

  • Create a single, centralised process that is easy for students to understand and access. 

  • Ensure students experiencing bereavement receive compassionate academic support from the university.,  

  • Strengthen wellbeing support and visibility: 

  • Improve signposting to existing wellbeing services on and off campus, through Wellbeing Wednesdays.,  

  • Stronger Sense of belonging in the BAME community: 

  • Using community organising to find out the lived experiences of the BAME community. 

  • Reviewing the term BAME used in the Students Union. 

  • Supporting students with textured hair feel empowered and assist with cost-of-living difficulties surrounding hair care. 

  • The Students Union should keep running the international student’s advisory board. 

  • To reduce the use of buying from Amazon within the Students Union.  

  • Petition for Free Laundry Services for Full-time Residents.
