Last year’s SLTA awards becomes part of AberSU Celebrates week.

New name, new look, new categories and a new venue…What was once known as the SLTAs (or Student Led Teaching Awards) has now become AberSU Celebrates teaching awards.

Here’s a little insight into the changes we’ve made…

New name:

This year, AberSU decided to rebrand and link our award ceremonies held during May to create AberSU Celebrates week; and a crucial part of this week are the annual teaching awards.

New look:

A new name is an excuse for a makeover and as we’re celebrating individuals and departments’ achievements we thought we’d introduce stars to the mix too…well, if you have been nominated for an award someone somewhere thinks you’re a star.

New Categories:

We’re also introducing new categories to the mix this year giving you even more opportunity to nominate someone that’s made a difference to your Aberystwyth journey:

• Lecturer of the Year

• Support / Service Staff Member of the Year

• Academic Representative of the Year

• Supervisor of the Year - Postgraduate

• Supervisor of the Year - Undergraduate

• Department of the Year

• Hyrwyddwr yr Iaith Gymraeg (Welsh Language Champion)

• Postgraduate Teacher of the Year

• Innovative Teaching Award

• Personal Tutor of the Year

• Outstanding Feedback Award

• Next Step Award

• Leading Equality Award

• Special Mentions

New Venue:

And finally, the teaching awards is likely to find a new home this year. Great awards need a great venue; which is why we’re working hard this year in our attempts to hold the awards at the Great Hall in the Arts Centre on Friday, 5th of May. We hope by moving to this bigger venue we’ll have more scope for student attendees to attend and watch on from the balcony!

Despite all the changes, the one thing that has not changed is that these awards remain completely student-led from nomination to presentation therefore what are you waiting for? ... nominate now!
