What is this campaign?

Aber SU Advice Centre staff are accredited by an organisation called NASMA (National Association of Student Money Advisers).  Every year NASMA runs the National Student Money Week campaign.  The central aim of the campaign is to support NASMA members to run local campaigns to support their students to engage with money-related issues and topics.  This year NASMA’s campaign focused on the important matter of students, money and mental health.

Students, Mental health & Money – infographics

As part of that theme, NASMA sent a topical survey to its members in the period running up to National Student Money Week 2016.  Aber SU Advice Centre staff were active participants in the design and reporting of this research.  In all NASMA had 319 responses from students across the UK.  Wales featured most prominently in the research and Aberystwyth University students came 2nd from top in terms of survey respondents, which is a great result.  You can see a copy of the results report presented with beautifully designed infographics here

Top Tips Winners

Tom from Aberlook Letting provided a huge fruit basket for Kyle Horner who was one of the NSMW (National Student Money Week) top tips video competition winners. Emma Hazley also won a prize for her winning top tip and took home a voucher for a pancake breakfast for two including soft drinks which was kindly provided by Sophie’s café.  The winner of the bottle of wine for her top tip (provided by the Co-op) was Lyra Vega, and finally, the winner of a whole weekly shop (provided by the Co-op) was Alex Deeley. Alex came up with the closest estimate in NSMW “guess the price” competition.

Cooperative food was kind enough to sponsor four big bags of Simply Value range products. Remember, any student with an NUS card can get a huge 10% off a food shop at the Co-op.
