Hello! I’m Naomi and I’m your Welfare Officer for this year. This means that I will be doing as much as possible to ensure that your student experience is as healthy, happy and stress-free as possible. Whether you need help and advice on issues such as housing and finance, you’re concerned about your health, or you just need a cup of tea and a listening ear to rant to, my door will always be open (you’ll often find me wherever the food/coffee is). Looking after yourself whilst at university is extremely important and it’s so easy for everything to get on top of you and become too much. Firstly, you need to remember that you are not alone – chances are there are plenty of other people who are feeling the same way as you. Secondly, there are so many fantastic services available at this university that will help you to overcome whatever your troubles may be. Speaking out about your issues is the best way to overcome them, and there will always be somebody standing on the other side ready to help and guide you through. I hope you have the best time studying here and remember to cherish every moment – trust me, time will fly by! P.S. Nothing beats a run along the seafront whilst the sun is setting.

Below are the progress updates regarding individual officer campaigns and projects. Officers will update the traffic light system to reflect their progress. If you wish to challenge the progress please leave a comment. The Democracy Team will confer with Officers and the progress update will be amended accordingly and if appropriate to do so.

Food Blog

When I was a student, I found it really difficult to do food shops that would last me a long while and I would end up just buying pizza’s and ready-made pasta. I may not be much of an expert now, but I think I’m slowly grasping it.

The Importance of Self-Care

November 14th marked the start of self-care week, and it’s a topic that can come with mixed opinions when it comes to the impact that self-care can have on our mental health.

Naomi Cutler - AberSU Welfare Officer

Oh, hey – my first blog! This isn’t your usual “this is what I’ve been up to this week” sabbatical officer blog, it’s more of an introduction to me. Although not your average introduction.
