JOIN THE A-TEAM! Freshers’ and Beyond!
Volunteer to be part of the A-Team for 2022/23!

The A-Team are student volunteers who help new students feel welcome and settle into life at Aberystwyth University over Freshers Week, as well as help at other big events throughout the year.

We are looking for current students wanting to share their knowledge and passion for all things Aber, as well as support the Students’ Union with activities and events during Freshers week and beyond!

A-Team Role Description (Freshers Week):

  • Meet and greet new students and parents (town and campus)
  • Help students find and move into their University accommodation
  • Be on hand to answer questions and signpost students to places, services and activities on campus
  • Help with the ‘Big Sale’, Freshers’ Fayre or Student Registration 
  • Minibus Driver (over 21's and if COVID restirctions allow)
  • International Arrivals from Birmingham Airport (If COVID restrictions allow)
  • Make sure students stay safe in town (Night team)
  • Assist students who may be lost, tired or emotional (Night team)
  • Working in partnership with local services and partner organisations (Night team)


After freshers – The year ahead

Throughout the rest of the year are plenty of other events and activities you can help with and you’ll be kept up to date as to when they’re happening. It’s completely up to you how much time you give up and which activities you choose after Freshers Week. Just choose the activities that are of most interest to you!

ESSENTIALS: Training and Time Commitment

So you can understand your role and meet the rest of the team, it is compulsory that all volunteers attend training on Tuesday 20th September (times TBC).

During Welcome Weekend (24thth – 26th September) we ask that volunteers give up at least 5 hours of their time per day to help with daytime or night-time arrivals and activities.

During Freshers Week (27th September - 1st October), we ask for volunteers to give up at least 5 hours of their time to help with daytime or night time activities.

All applicants will be asked to attend an informal applicant day. This will include a group task, further information about the role and a chance to meet others.
