A little goodbye message: Welsh Language Officer & UMCA President

My year as UMCA President has really flown by since starting about a year ago. I've really enjoyed representing Welsh-speaking students in every aspect of the university.

My year as UMCA President has really flown by since starting about a year ago. I've really enjoyed representing Welsh-speaking students in every aspect of the university. The variety of experiences I've had have been amazing, and these are memories I will cherish. One of my memories is organising Y Ddawns Ryng-gol and having the duty of organising one the biggest Welsh-language music events, but the previous night, when I organised the literary night, Stomp, will stay with me longest. I was proud to see so many people attending and enjoying a literary event, something which young people don't get to see that often. RAG week was also something I'll remember when UMCA members managed to raise over £2,000 for Mind Aberystwyth

I'm happy that I've achieved many of my manifesto points over the year. Making sure the university kept to the Pantycelyn timescale was obviously important but there is still so much to do to achieve that. Personally, I'm very proud of the success of my campaign, LLEOL, which encouraged students to shop with local businesses. It got a lot of attention in the press and it was great the local community and campus working together.

Even though I'm leaving, a part of me will always be with UMCA and the Aberystwyth student community. I'll be keeping an eye on developments and hoping the union will continue to evolve and put students first at all times. Diolch.
