Society of the Month Award

AberSU is happy to announce that the Society of the Month for November 2020 goes to Aberystwyth Conservation Volunteers

This student group has worked tirelessly, tending to the grounds around Ceredigion area, as well as taking care of our Aberystwyth University Community Garden grounds.

A nominator pointed out their work, ranging from gardening sessions, litter pickings, nature reserve maintenance and working on the apple orchard at Gogerddan campus.

The nominations included praise for adapting quickly to the demanding times of Covid-19, taking care of their responsibilities to keep the area clean and healthy, organising multiple Litter Picks, and making sure that all members of the group are healthy and happy over this period of difficulty.

One of the nominators stated: “They have made an extra effort in this tricky time and are keeping to the society’s purpose whilst ensuring its members are safe! They create fun weekly socials and provide hands-on experience in their weekly tasks. A really great society whose committee members deserve the recognition!”

Moreover, the Opportunities Office Team was delighted to grant the award to the ACV for their visible commitment and dedication to the wellbeing of both the nature and the students in the Aberystwyth Community.

ACV Committee stated: “We are grateful to all our members following all the new covid rules and keeping everyone safe. Last term we got stuck in with lots of events to help our community, and these opportunities offered students a chance to get fresh air and to connect with nature, which is so important. We look forward to running lots more conservation events in the future!"

Aber SU would like to warmly congratulate the Aberystwyth Conservation Volunteers and wish the group plenty more successes, and strength in the months to come!

A great well done to you!
