AberSU Charity of the Year – Nominees Announced…

In the lead up to Freshers’ we have invited students to nominate their suggestions for AberSU Charity of the Year to be voted at the SU Fairs (23rd /24th September) and from SU Reception thereafter up until Friday 27th September.

The winning charity as selected by students will receive half of the monies raised during 2019/20.

The National Eisteddfod of Wales

Next year the National Eisteddfod of Wales is due to be held in Ceredigion. The National Eisteddfod is an annual Welsh language festival in which around 150,000 visitors attend. The event is a celebration of welsh culture featuring eight days of competions and performances covering the arts, literature, music and language.

World Wildlife Fund

The World Wildlife Fund is an international charity that focuses on the preservation of the wilderness and reduction of human impact on the environment. One in 14 species in Wales is at risk of disappearing altogether and 60% of butterfly species have declined.

Guide Dogs Cymru

Guide Dogs Cymru helps blind and partially sighted people across the UK through the provision of guide dogs, mobility and other rehabilitation services. They also campaign for the rights of those with visual impairments and invest in eye disease research.

Bowel Cancer UK

Bowel Cancer UK is the leading bowel cancer charity focussed on saving lives and improving quality of life for anyone affected by bowel cancer. They do this by campaigning on improved access to diagnosis, treatment and care, through research, and wider education around bowel cancer.
