1. Why do you do sport?

*I enjoy the competitive nature of sport as well as it keeping you fit without really realising. I find playing sport for an hour is much more enjoyable than spending an hour on your own in the gym. It is also a great way to socialise, I have made many more friends through sport than I have through my course. It is a perfect break from work and always makes you feel ten times better after you have dragged yourself out of bed and been to a training session!

2. What sport do you do?

*Just netball at present, I would love to be involved in more as I have played hockey and horse ridden nearly all my life but commitment wise I think it is easier to just stick to one!

3. What challenges have you faced, being a girl, within sport?

*Luckily, I have never really faced any challenges within sport I come from a keen sporting family so have always been offered the opportunity to partake in sport. Having four older brothers and being a girl has probably been an advantage rather than a hindrance as I always wanted to prove I was just as good as the boys at sport!

4. What have you achieved in sports? Gained qualification?

*I have played hockey for Herefordshire county and South-East Wales region, have ridden horses to a reasonably high level mainly in dressage and I am currently President of the university’s’ netball club.

5. What do you have to say to girls in Aber who want to try sport, but are too scared?

*Sport in university can totally change your uni experience, I know multiple girls who have gone from not enjoying Aber at all to now never wanting to leave as sport gained them confidence in themselves, friendship and support. All of the clubs are really accessible in Aber, it really does not matter if you have not played before I can guarantee you will not be the only one. Everyone is nervous joining a new club or group of people but everyone in that club has been in the same position as yourself so give it a go!
