This year we are looking at doing Raising and Giving (RAG) a bit differently here at AberSU by opening up how we decide which charities we support and introducing two new ways students can join in this decision-making…

The first we launch today by asking you for your suggestions of local, regional and national charities that should be our SU Charity of the Year and why you believe AberSU students should back them. You can do this by using the form further below.

The second we’ll unveil in more detail later in the year but we’ll be creating a student panel to allocate fundraising to charities suggest by other students with the aim that we open up the decision-making while being able to have greater impact by donating smaller amounts to additional charities.

Clubs and Societies passionate about specific causes will still be able to donate to them as in previous years although we encourage all students to support our SU Charity of the Year.

Our Opportunities Officer this year, Jess Williams is

“Very pleased this year that one of the RAG charities the SU raise money for will be chosen by students!

Leading up to RAG month students will have the opportunity to vote on which charity they would like to raise and give towards!“

You can submit your suggestions using the form linked to the button below, which will remain open until Friday 22nd September 2017.

Do you have a suggestion for our Charity of our Year?

We’ll then meet and shortlist the most popular ready for Freshers Fair on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th September where all students will be able vote to decide the winner.

We’ll unveil the winner via our website and in the weekly email.

More information about the student panel will be released later in the year but you can use the form above to declare your interest in being involved.
