Our annual Teaching awards were held on Friday 5th of May at the Great Hall where AberSU celebrated and thanked exceptional staff members, student representatives and departments that truly make Aberystwyth great.

A few changes were introduced to this year’s awards; We found a new home in the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, we had an almost entirely new contingent of award categories to hand out ad we’ve even re-branded the event as the “AberSU Celebrates Teaching awards”.

All the shortlisted and winners are nominated, decided and awarded by Aberystwyth students – student led from nomination to shortlisting.

The awards, now in their 6th year, received 426 nominations ranging from students nominating their lecturers to staff nominating the academic representatives.

There were fourteen award categories in this year’s teaching awards, which recognise staff and academic reps in a range of settings across the university.

Our Education Officer, Ryan Myles hosted the event and was happy with this year's teaching awards:

“This year’s AberSU Teaching Awards was one of the most successful awards yet, with more students than ever before involved in the process. This year we recognised 13 members of staff for their exceptional contribution to university life and winners were announced at our glitzy awards ceremony in the Aberystwyth Arts Centre on Friday.

I’m so proud to be part of a community that recognises its students and staff in the way we do, and it was an honour to be able to host such an awards ceremony. It’s a testament to our hardworking students and staff how difficult it was to choose this year’s shortlist, let alone the winners.

We also took this opportunity to launch our new year-round awards scheme “You’re great” where we are inviting students to tell us about small moments of greatness that happen all the time. More information about ‘You’re Great’ can be found here.”

Congratulations to all involved in the organisation of the event, those on the shortlist and the winners.
