- Description -

We will be departing Aberystwyth in a minibus just after 9AM, and starting the hike from near Nant-y-Moch Reservoir. We’ll follow the road briefly, before joining the desire paths that head up to the summit. After we summit, we’ll find a windbreak and stop for lunch, before following the ridge to bag the subsidiary summits. Finally, we’ll descend next to the lake Llyn Llygad-Rheidol - which supplies Aberystwyth with water - rejoin the road, and head back to the minibus.

Pumlumon is on the easier side for a mountain, due to a low max elevation and the start point being over 300m above sea level. There are no sections that are precarious, and the gradient is not too steep. The biggest obstacles will be potentially muddy conditions underfoot in sections, and possibly wind (the shape and emptiness of the landscape tends to funnel the prevailing wind towards the summit).

The hike will be around 9-10km, depending on parking availability. The total ascent will be around 475m.

- Meetings, Timings, and Transport -

We will be traveling by minibus. We’ll meet at Lidl carpark at 09:00.

We will depart Aberystwyth at 09:10, and we should be back around 15:30 at the latest.
